A rental bundle packages several rental products into one listing with one price, and Rental Products reserves every item in it when the bundle is rented.

## When you’d use this

- Rent kits that always go out together, such as a photography kit or a party package.
- Charge one price for a kit, lower than renting each item separately.
- Keep each item’s stock accurate, so a camera out in a kit can’t also be rented on its own.

## Create a bundle

1. Create a new simple product, or edit an existing one. Rental bundles are available on simple products only.
2. Set **Rental product** to **Rental bundle** and confirm the prompt.
3. Set the bundle’s price as the **Regular price** on the **General** tab.
4. In the **Rental product data** box, click the **Bundle** tab.
5. In **Bundled rentals**, search for and add the products in the kit. Add a product more than once to include several of it.
6. Set the bundle’s pricing and availability options on the other tabs, then click **Update**.

![Rental Products: Create rental bundles » Create a bundle (rental product data » Bundle)](https://kestrelwp.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/rental-products-rp-13.png)Only published **Rental only** and **Rental or purchase** products can be bundled, or individual variations of them, so you can bundle the large tent rather than any tent. A bundle can’t contain another bundle or a non-rental product.

## Bundle pricing and rules

The bundle has its own price and rental options, and they’re used whenever it’s rented: the bundled products’ own prices and booking rules don’t apply inside the bundle. Set the bundle’s pricing on its **Pricing** tab like any other rental product; see [set up rental pricing](/docs/rental-products-pricing/).

**Example:** a camera body ($50 a day) and a lens ($30 a day) bundled together might rent for $60 a day as a kit.

The bundle’s **Availability** options, such as minimum and maximum days, lead time, return days threshold and disabled dates, decide which dates customers can book. Stock is still checked against each bundled product, as below.

The product page lists the bundled products under "Bundle includes", and in the cart and order each bundled product is marked "Part of bundle". In the cart, the bundled products follow the bundle’s quantity and can’t be changed on their own.

## How bundle availability is calculated

A bundle is available for as many complete bundles as its products can supply for the dates chosen. If a bundle includes two of the same chair and 10 chairs are free, the chairs can supply 5 bundles. If any product in the bundle is unavailable for the dates, the whole bundle is unavailable, even if the other items are free. There’s no option to rent a partial bundle.

When a bundle is rented, each bundled product is reserved for the rental dates, in the quantity the bundle includes for each bundle rented. The camera in a photography kit can’t be rented on its own while the kit is out.

The bundle’s own rental stock depends on the handler mode ([which mode am I in?](/docs/get-started-with-rental-products/#check-which-mode-your-store-runs)):

- **Modern handlers:** the bundle’s own rental stock isn’t used; the bundled products alone decide how many bundles can be booked.
- **Legacy mode:** a rental stock set on the bundle also caps how many bundles can be rented. Leave it empty (unlimited) to let the bundled products alone decide.

If a bundled product has fewer units in its rental stock than the bundle includes (say the bundle has three chairs and only two are in rental stock), the bundle can never be rented, and its product page shows "Sorry, no dates are available."

## Bundles on orders

An order with a bundle has a line for the bundle and a line for each bundled product, with the bundled lines marked "Part of bundle". Manage the rental from the bundle’s line:

- **Mark as returned** and **Cancel rental** on the bundle line apply to every product in it.
- To change the dates or quantity with **Edit rental** (modern handlers), edit the bundle line; its products move with it. A bundled line has no **Edit rental** button of its own.
- To add a bundle to an existing order, use **Add rental product** and choose the bundle. Its products are added with it.

See [manage rental orders](/docs/manage-rental-orders/) for the full order tools.

## Deposits on bundles

A bundle charges its own security deposit, set on the bundle’s **Deposits** tab. The bundled products’ deposits aren’t charged when they’re rented as part of the bundle. See [security deposits](/docs/rental-products-deposits/).

## Bundles in the rentals inventory

**Rentals » Inventory** lists products only, without bundles, until you click **Include bundles**. Bundled products’ stock already includes the units out in bundles. See [rentals inventory](/docs/rentals-dashboard-calendar-inventory/#inventory).

## Common bundle examples

- **Photography kit:** camera body, lens, memory card and bag.
- **Party package:** tables, chairs, linens and centerpieces.
- **Construction set:** generator, extension cords and work lights.
- **Camping bundle:** tent, sleeping bags, cooler and camp stove.

## Common issues

### The bundle shows as unavailable

One of its products can’t supply its share for the dates. Check each bundled product’s rental stock and its bookings on **Rentals » Calendar**. In legacy mode, also check the rental stock set on the bundle itself.

### "Sorry, no dates are available." on the bundle’s product page

A bundled product’s **Rental stock (in and out)** is lower than the quantity the bundle includes. Raise that product’s rental stock, or include fewer of it in **Bundled rentals**.

### A product can’t be added to the bundle

Only published Rental only and Rental or purchase products and their variations can be bundled. Publish the product and set its rental type first. For a variable product, add its variations.

### The Rental bundle option is grayed out

Rental bundles are simple products only. Change the **Product type** to **Simple product** first.
