Most Order Delivery problems come down to one of a few settings: which mode it’s in, how the shipping date is worked out, and which shipping method the customer chose. Find your symptom below, or search this page for the message you see.

## When you’d use this

- The date field or estimate is missing at checkout.
- The dates customers are offered aren’t the ones you expect.
- You see an Order Delivery message in your admin and want to know what it means.

## Common issues

### The delivery date field doesn’t appear at checkout

Work through these in order:

1. **The cart doesn’t need shipping.** Carts with only virtual or downloadable products never get a date.
2. **The mode doesn’t match the shipping method.** In **Delivery only** mode, customers who choose a pickup method see nothing, and in **Pickup only** mode, customers who choose a delivery method see nothing. Set **Show dates/estimates for** to **Both delivery & pickup** to cover both.
3. **No date is available.** With a calendar, the section is hidden when no date within **Show dates for the next** passes your rules: every day is off or blocked, the range’s **From (days)** is longer than the window, every slot is full, or no day or time frame allows the chosen shipping method. See [How Order Delivery calculates delivery and pickup dates](/docs/how-order-delivery-calculates-dates/).
4. **No shipping method is available.** If the customer’s address doesn’t match a shipping zone with a method, there’s nothing to schedule. Check **WooCommerce » Settings » Shipping**.
5. **Every item is on backorder.** With a calendar, customers see the backorder message instead of a date.
6. **The order ships to several addresses** with Shipping Multiple Addresses, or the customer chose a Local Pickup Plus pickup method. See [Order Delivery compatibility](/docs/order-delivery-compatibility/).
7. **Your theme or another plugin changes the classic checkout.** Try a different **Date position at checkout**. On the checkout block, the details always sit inside the **Shipping options** or **Pickup options** block.

### Pickup customers stopped seeing a date after updating to version 4

Updating from version 3 sets **Show dates/estimates for** to **Delivery only** and removes the old "Enable for local pickup" setting. Switch to **Both delivery & pickup** and set up **Pickup scheduling**; see [Upgrade to Order Delivery 4: set up pickup again](/docs/order-delivery-v4-migration-for-stores-with-enable-for-local-pickup/).

### A pickup method gets delivery dates

Order Delivery treats WooCommerce’s own local pickup, CheckoutWC’s local pickup and Local Pickup Plus as pickup. Pickup methods from most other plugins count as delivery and use **Delivery scheduling**.

### The earliest date is later than expected

Lead time counts picking days only, an order after the cut-off starts on the next picking day, and ranges count from the shipping date. The Default range is 1 to 10 days, so the earliest date is the day after the shipping date unless you set **From (days)** to 0.

### Same-day delivery or pickup isn’t offered

Set **Lead time in days** to 0 and the matching range’s **From (days)** to 0, and check that today is a picking day and a delivery (or pickup) day and that the order is before the cut-off. See the same-day examples in [How Order Delivery calculates delivery and pickup dates](/docs/how-order-delivery-calculates-dates/#example-same-day-delivery).

### Cut-off times are an hour off, or happen at the wrong time

Order Delivery uses your WordPress timezone. The **Settings** section shows "Current date and time is \[date and time\]. If incorrect, update your timezone settings to ensure accurate delivery/pickup timings." If the time is wrong, choose a city for **Timezone** under **Settings » General**; a UTC offset doesn’t follow daylight saving time.

### Dates show in the wrong format, or the week starts on the wrong day

The calendar and order dates follow **Date Format** and **Week Starts On** under **Settings » General**. A translation can use its own date format.

### A full time slot still takes orders, or an empty one shows as full

Only **Processing**, **On hold** and **Completed** orders count toward an order limit, so pending payment orders don’t hold a place. If counts still look wrong, rebuild them under **WooCommerce » Status » Tools » Rebuild order delivery lookup table**; see [Manage delivery dates on orders](/docs/manage-order-delivery-dates/#rebuild-the-order-count-lookup-table).

### A holiday blocked for delivery is also blocked for pickup

Delivery and pickup share the **Disable delivery/pickup dates** calendar. Limit the event to a **Country** and **States** if it only applies to some customers.

### Tips don’t appear

Check that **Customers can add a tip** is on, that the customer’s shipping method is allowed in the **Tips** section, and that the cart needs shipping. See [Set up tips at checkout](/docs/order-delivery-tips/).

### A fee is called "Scheduled delivery"

The day or time frame has no **Fee label**. Add one in its settings.

### The Backorder notification email doesn’t arrive

Check that:

1. **Customers should** is **Pick a date**. The email isn’t sent with estimates.
2. The email is enabled and has the right **Recipient(s)** under **WooCommerce » Settings » Emails » Backorder notification**.
3. The order was placed through the classic checkout. Orders placed through the checkout block don’t send this email.

### Customers can’t change their subscription’s delivery date

The **Change delivery** button doesn’t show for daily subscriptions, subscriptions without a next delivery date, subscriptions that aren’t active, or when **Customers should** is **See an estimated date**. See [Order Delivery with WooCommerce Subscriptions](/docs/order-delivery-woocommerce-subscriptions/).

### The date isn’t on invoices or packing slips

Only PDF Invoices & Packing Slips and Print Invoices & Packing Lists add it automatically.

## Messages you might see

### "You must check at least one shipping day."

Saving the **Picking** section with no **Order picking days** on. Turn on at least one day.

### "You must check at least one delivery day." or "You must check at least one pickup day."

Saving **Delivery scheduling** or **Pickup scheduling** with every day off. Turn on at least one day, or change **Show dates/estimates for** if you don’t offer that option.

### "Select a least one delivery day." or "Select at least one pickup day."

Saving a time frame without any days under **Assign to delivery days** (or **Assign to pickup days**). Pick at least one day.

### ‘The field "To (days)" must be higher or equal than the field "From (days)".’

A range’s **To (days)** is lower than its **From (days)**.

### "No shipping methods provided."

A range has no shipping methods. Pick at least one; only the Default range covers all methods.

### "The “All shipping methods” option is reserved for the default delivery range. Consider moving these values to the default delivery range and delete this one."

A range other than the Default uses **All shipping methods**. Edit the Default range instead, and delete the extra one.

### "Tip presets must contain at least one valid numeric value greater than 0"

**Tip presets** has no number above 0. Enter values such as `5,10,20`.

### "Order Delivery for WooCommerce requires WooCommerce Subscriptions 3.0 or higher."

Your WooCommerce Subscriptions version is too old for Order Delivery’s subscription features. Update WooCommerce Subscriptions.

### "We need to update your store database to the latest version."

Order Delivery needs to update its data after an update. Back up your database, then click **Run the updater**; "Your database is being updated in the background." shows while it runs.

### "The shipping date have been updated according to the new delivery/pickup date."

You changed an order’s delivery date, and Order Delivery worked out a new shipping date for it.

### "We couldn’t find a shipping date according to the delivery/pickup date."

You changed an order’s delivery date, and no shipping date fits it under your current settings. Set the shipping date yourself.

### "Delivery date is not valid." or "Time frame is not valid."

On the classic checkout, the date or time frame the customer submitted isn’t one Order Delivery can accept for their cart and shipping method. Ask them to choose again from the calendar. ("Pickup date is not valid." is the pickup version.)

### "Delivery date is required" or "Delivery time frame is required"

On the checkout block, the customer tried to place the order without choosing a required date or time frame.

### "Some items in your order are on backorder. We will contact you via email to arrange delivery once your items are available."

The cart has backorder items. If every item is on backorder, there’s no date to choose; arrange the date with the customer.

### "Delivery date not found for the next order."

A subscription note: no date passed your rules for the subscription’s next order. Assign one in the subscription’s delivery meta box.

## FAQ

### How do I change the date format?

Change **Date Format** under **Settings » General**. Order Delivery uses it for the calendar, the order screens and emails.

### How do I change the first day of the week in the calendar?

Change **Week Starts On** under **Settings » General**.

### Can I customize the classic checkout fields?

Yes. Order Delivery’s templates can be overridden like WooCommerce’s: copy the template from the plugin’s `templates` folder into a `woocommerce` folder in your child theme, keeping its path, such as `woocommerce/checkout/form-delivery-date.php`. Overrides only affect the classic checkout, emails and order pages, not the checkout block. Recheck your copies after updating Order Delivery.

### What happens to my settings when I delete the plugin?

They’re kept, so reinstalling restores them. Order Delivery only deletes its data on uninstall when your site’s `wp-config.php` sets WooCommerce’s `WC_REMOVE_ALL_DATA` to true.
