Works with R-Series and X-Series

One plugin connects Lightspeed and WooCommerce — R-Series or X-Series.

Sell in your store, your online stock drops. Take an order online, Lightspeed records it. Your inventory stays accurate in both places, without you touching either system.

Lightspeed has no native WooCommerce connector for R-Series — this is the only WooCommerce-native option for those retailers. Full support for X-Series too. (Lightspeed eCom is a separate product and isn’t compatible with either.)

Built and supported by Kestrel, the WooCommerce POS integration team.

Connecting a Lightspeed account to WooCommerce in the plugin settings

⭐
4.3 stars across 41 reviews, 2,000+ active installs — see the WooCommerce.com marketplace listing

You made a sale at the register, but forgot to update WooCommerce. Now a customer ordered something you no longer have.

You changed a price in Lightspeed. Then you opened WooCommerce and changed it there too. You’ve done this more times than you can count.

Your Lightspeed catalog and your WooCommerce catalog have been drifting apart for months. Getting them back in sync means hours of work.

Setup takes minutes

Connect once. After that, the plugin handles it.

Authorize the connection

One OAuth flow in your plugin settings links your Lightspeed account (R-Series or X-Series) to WooCommerce.

Import your catalog

Pull your products from Lightspeed. SKUs, prices, descriptions, and stock levels land in WooCommerce exactly as configured.

Sync runs automatically

In-store sales and online orders both update the shared inventory count. No manual step required.

Before you connect: turn on stock management under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory. The plugin needs it enabled to sync stock levels.

What the plugin handles

Three problems this integration solves from day one.

Inventory kept in sync, both directions

Background sync runs automatically on schedules you control — recurring checks pull product, customer, and inventory changes from Lightspeed at configurable intervals (as fast as every minute, up to every 60, or off), so a sale in-store reaches your website without you touching anything. Full order sync to Lightspeed — including automatic tax rate creation on the Lightspeed side — has been stable since v3.1.0. On top of that, the plugin checks live stock directly against Lightspeed the moment a shopper adds an item to their cart, and again at checkout — so oversells are blocked even in the window before the next scheduled sync runs.

Scheduled background sync

Recurring checks pull product, customer, and inventory changes from Lightspeed on intervals you set — from every minute up to every 60, or off.

Order sync to Lightspeed

Online orders record in Lightspeed automatically when status changes to Processing or Completed.

Simple and variable products

Works for simple products and Lightspeed matrix products. Each variation syncs with its own SKU and stock level.

Stock checked at add-to-cart

Before a customer adds an item to their cart, the plugin queries Lightspeed for live stock. A second check runs before checkout. Oversells blocked at two points, even if background sync is behind.

One catalog, one place to manage it

Import your Lightspeed product library into WooCommerce with a single click. From that point on, changes you make in Lightspeed (name edits, price updates, new SKUs) push to WooCommerce automatically. You manage products in one system.

One-click product import

Pull your full catalog from Lightspeed via the Importer. No CSV, no copy-paste.

Full field sync

SKU, title, short description, long description, price, stock, categories, and images. All configurable.

Manual or automatic sync

Choose automatic sync on a schedule or trigger it manually. You control when it runs.

Lightspeed products, prices, and stock imported into WooCommerce

Exactly what syncs, in each direction

Lightspeed → WooCommerce

Product name
SKU (system, custom, or manufacturer — your choice)
Regular price and sale price
Stock quantity
Short and long description
Attributes and matrix variations
Product images
Categories (configurable: replace, append, or ignore)

WooCommerce → Lightspeed

Inventory changes from online orders
Inventory changes from cancellations and refunds
Order recorded as sale in Lightspeed, with matching tax rates
Customer record synced with order

Product data (name, price, description) is managed in Lightspeed and syncs one-way to WooCommerce. Lightspeed is the source of truth for your catalog.

Built for both Lightspeed series

The plugin runs two full integrations under one roof — one built for R-Series, one for X-Series — with the settings, customer sync, order sync, and activity logging each series needs natively. You get the right one automatically based on which account you connect.

Lightspeed Retail POS (R-Series)
Full support — products, inventory, customers, orders
The only WooCommerce-native option — Lightspeed has no native connector for R-Series

Lightspeed Retail POS (X-Series)
Full support — products, inventory, customers, orders

Lightspeed eCom
Not compatible. Separate product.

How we compare

Here’s what you get with Kestrel versus the other ways to connect Lightspeed and WooCommerce — including Lightspeed’s own free connector.

Feature	Kestrel	Lightspeed’s native connector	SKU IQ	DIY (Zapier/Make)

Annual cost	$249/yr	Free	$45–89+/mo	Tool costs vary + your time

Why not just use Lightspeed’s own free connector?

If you’re on X-Series, Lightspeed offers its own connector to WooCommerce at no extra cost, set up from inside Lightspeed. It’s a real option and worth trying first if your setup is simple: one store, one location, X-Series only.

Here’s where it stops. It doesn’t support R-Series at all. Lightspeed provides essentially no hands-on support for it — when something breaks, you’re troubleshooting alone. And it isn’t a WooCommerce plugin: it’s configured and controlled from the Lightspeed side, so it doesn’t get WooCommerce-specific handling for things like matrix/variation products, staging protection, or field-level sync control.

Kestrel exists for the retailers the free connector doesn’t fully serve: anyone on R-Series, and anyone on X-Series who wants WooCommerce-specific sync logic plus a support team that will actually get on a call about it. We’re not going to tell you Lightspeed’s option is bad — for the right store, it isn’t. We’re telling you honestly where each one fits.

Pricing

Two ways to pay for the plugin. Same plugin, same support, same updates either way.

Monthly

$29/month

Pay month to month. Cancel any time. Full plugin, support, and all updates included.

Get Monthly Access

Best value

Annual

$249/year

About $99 less per year than paying monthly (roughly 3.4 months free). One payment, covered for the year. Full plugin, support, and all updates included. 30-day money-back guarantee.

Get Annual Access

SKU IQ runs about $45–89+/month depending on tier. 24Seven Commerce, an enterprise-focused option, starts at $2,400+/year. Building it yourself with Zapier or Make costs whatever tools you choose plus your own time to build and maintain it as either API changes.

Optional add-on: Pro Support

One add-on, two sizes — layered on top of an active plugin license ($249/yr or $29/mo), never a replacement for it. Monthly billing only. Every customer already gets the standard plugin and standard support; a minority of stores — mostly multi-location retailers, international/VAT sellers, and agencies running several client stores — add Pro Support for the custom work specific to their setup:

Store-specific custom PHP snippets — shipping as a sales-sync line item, tax overrides for international/VAT stores, wholesale/B2B pricing adjustments, brand sync customization, tag-based product filtering
Upgrade shepherding, so custom work keeps working across plugin and WooCommerce updates
Guided configuration calls for catalog/taxonomy decisions that need judgment, not just documentation

Pro Support — Store Hours

$149/mo

2 hours a month of store-specific work. Unused hours roll one month (up to 4h banked). Requests go through the standard support queue — same target as every other licensed customer, no separate response-time promise. Work typically starts within 2 business days; custom code is reviewed before it goes live.

Ask about Store Hours →

Pro Support — Store Hours + Direct Line

$499/mo

6 hours a month, plus a named contact alongside the support queue. Unused hours roll one month (up to 12h banked). Same-business-day acknowledgment on Pro Support requests specifically — standard support’s response time is unchanged for everyone else. Work typically starts within 1 business day, custom code deploys staging-first, and it includes a scheduled 30-minute monthly check-in plus a heads-up before major WooCommerce core updates ship.

Ask about Direct Line →

Work beyond either plan’s monthly hours is quoted as a fixed fee before it starts — you approve the quote, nothing is worked first and billed after.

“Standard support means the plugin works the way it’s documented — for everyone, on every plan. Pro Support is for the work that’s specific to your store.” Connection problems, sync failures, auth and import errors, bug fixes, and compatibility patches are always standard support, on every plan, for free — Pro Support never gates anything that’s already included.

Known limitations

These are the current boundaries of what the plugin does. Worth knowing before you buy.

One Lightspeed store per WooCommerce site. If you have multiple Lightspeed locations, you choose one to sync with WooCommerce. There’s no per-location stock model on the WooCommerce side today, and no build is currently scheduled — we’re tracking demand internally. Contact support if this is a requirement for your store; hearing from more retailers who need it helps us prioritize it.
WooCommerce backorders are not supported. When a product hits zero stock, it goes out of stock in WooCommerce. Backorder allowances set in WooCommerce will be overridden by the sync.
Lightspeed is the source of truth for product data. Product names, prices, and descriptions are managed in Lightspeed and pushed to WooCommerce. Changes made directly in WooCommerce to those fields will be overwritten on the next sync.

Requirements: WordPress 6.3+, WooCommerce 9.9+, PHP 7.4+ (8.x compatible), an active Lightspeed account (R-Series or X-Series). Current version: 3.4.0, released 2026-08-24.

Questions before you buy

Answers to the things people ask us most. Not finding yours? Our support team is here.

Does this work with Lightspeed R-Series, not just X-Series?

Yes — full support for both R-Series and X-Series, with products, inventory, customers, and orders syncing on either. Lightspeed doesn’t offer a native WooCommerce connector for R-Series at all, so this is the only WooCommerce-native option for those retailers. (Lightspeed eCom is a separate product and isn’t compatible with either series.)

Does this sync customers as well as products and inventory?

Yes. You can pull customers from Lightspeed into WooCommerce, push WooCommerce customers to Lightspeed, and configure automatic sync when customers are created or updated on either side. Customer sync is controlled separately from product sync under Lightspeed > Settings > Customers.

Can I control which fields sync and which don’t?

You can control SKU sync, how categories are handled (never sync, replace existing, or append), and when product changes push to Lightspeed (on demand or automatically). Core fields like name, description, price, and stock sync as part of the standard product sync and can’t be individually disabled.

Can I manage products in WooCommerce instead of Lightspeed?

You can edit products directly in WooCommerce, but those changes won’t push back to Lightspeed — and they’ll be overwritten the next time the plugin syncs from Lightspeed. The recommended workflow is to manage products in Lightspeed and let the plugin keep WooCommerce updated. This keeps data consistent and avoids conflicts.

What happens to WooCommerce orders? Do they go into Lightspeed?

Yes. When an order reaches Processing or Completed status in WooCommerce, the plugin records a corresponding sale in Lightspeed, including matching tax rates, and adjusts inventory there. If you need to manually push an order, open it, update the status, and save. The sync triggers automatically.

We have a staging site and a live site. Can both connect to Lightspeed?

Only one WooCommerce site should actively sync to a Lightspeed store at a time. The plugin includes a built-in Staging Mode — it detects common staging environments automatically and pauses syncing. You can also toggle it manually under Lightspeed > Settings > General. Keep staging mode on for your staging site and off for production. Our support team can walk you through it if needed.

How is this different from building a sync with Zapier or Make?

DIY automations work until the Lightspeed API changes. Then they break and you’re debugging it on a Sunday. This plugin is maintained specifically for Lightspeed’s API, tested against every WooCommerce update, and backed by support from the people who built it. You also get Lightspeed matrix/variation product handling, which is difficult to replicate in a no-code tool.

What’s included in Pro Support, and do I need it?

Pro Support is an add-on to an active license, in two sizes: Store Hours ($149/month, 2 hours/month of store-specific work through the standard support queue) and Store Hours + Direct Line ($499/month, 6 hours/month plus a named contact, staging-first custom code, and same-business-day acknowledgment on Pro Support requests). Both cover custom PHP snippets, tax and wholesale configuration, and upgrade shepherding. Most stores don’t need either: standard support already covers connection problems, sync failures, auth and import errors, bug fixes, and compatibility patches, at no extra cost, on every plan. Pro Support tends to fit multi-location retailers, international/VAT sellers, and agencies managing multiple client stores.
