How to use KestrelWP plugins on a WordPress multisite network.

You can use our plugins on a WordPress multisite network. Activate the plugin, and WooCommerce, on each sub-site that uses it, and never network activate them. Each sub-site keeps its own plugin settings and data, the same way WooCommerce does, so nothing is shared between the stores on your network.

When you’d use this

  • You run several stores on one multisite network.
  • You’re working out how many licenses to buy for a network.

Activate the plugin on each sub-site

Don’t network activate our plugins or WooCommerce. Install the plugin once for the network, then activate it on each sub-site that uses it:

  1. Install the plugin from Network Admin » Plugins » Add New Plugin (see Install the plugin). Don’t click Network Activate.
  2. Make sure WooCommerce is active on the sub-site, from that sub-site’s own Plugins screen.
  3. On the same Plugins screen, click Activate under our plugin.
  4. Repeat on every sub-site that uses the plugin.

If you network activated either one, switch over at a quiet time, because your stores run without WooCommerce until it’s active on each sub-site again. In Network Admin » Plugins, click Network Deactivate under our plugin first, then under WooCommerce, and activate both on each sub-site that uses them.

License keys on a network

For a plugin bought on kestrelwp.com, each sub-site that uses it needs its own license: activate the license key in that sub-site’s dashboard. Plugins bought on WooCommerce.com are managed through your WooCommerce.com connection instead.

Common issues

The key ran out of activations partway through the network

Every sub-site where you activated the key used one activation. Deactivate the key on sub-sites that don’t use the plugin (see Move a license key to another site), or buy the plugin for more sites.
