You can sell a membership in a variety of ways! Let’s go through a few common examples to set up a product listing for your membership.
- Give memberships away for free: Of course, you don’t have to sell your membership! You can offer free memberships in two ways:
- Create a membership plan that grants access for user registration. Encourage your visitors to create an account to get a free membership.
- Offer a product with a $0 price, and use that product to grant access to your membership.
- Sell memberships for a one-time payment: You can choose a simple or variable product to set your one-time payment. Enable the “Grant membership access” checkbox, and choose a plan in the “Grant access” tab that purchasers will become members of.
- Tip: Variable products can work well to offer escalating tiers of access, where each variation gets tied to a different plan!
- If members never lose access, be sure the length of the plan being sold is “unlimited”.
- Sell memberships with a manual renewal: To let members renew manually, you can set up a simple or variable product, similar to the one-time payment. This will require members to purchase again to renew or extend their access.
- Sell memberships with recurring billing: Use the recurring billing or variable recurring billing product types to sell a membership with a subscription. By default, the membership will be active as long as the subscription is active (or in its pre-paid period).
Once you’ve chosen the product type, enable “Grant membership access” to select the plan(s) purchasers will gain access to, creating their membership records after the order has been paid for.
